Lincolnshire Lottery Delight

Four organisations - Lincoln and District Citizens Advice Bureau, Home-Start Lincoln, the Boston-based Park Green Project and Boston Women’s Aid – will share a total of £514,184 of lottery money. The grants are the first to be awarded to the county’s good causes in 2004 by the Community Fund.

Lincoln and District Citizens Advice Bureau applied for and received a grant of £215,889 to pay the salaries of five employees and running costs for three years.

Home-Start Lincoln, based on Melville Road, has received a grant of £145,140 to enable it to expand its Rural Project to young families in West Lindsey. The money will be used to advertise the service and recruit and train volunteers to support isolate families in this area.

A grant of £95,244 will enable Park Green Project to provide a park for the people of Butterwick and the surrounding area.

Boston Women’s Aid’s grant of £57,911 will be used by the group to create a new job at the organisation and contribute to running costs for three years.

Dawn Petch from Home-Start Lincoln echoed the sentiments of all the grant recipients, saying, “We are so grateful that the Community Fund has recognised Home-Start’s invaluable service. We are delighted and relieved that we shall be able to continue supporting isolated families and target more that need our support.”

The £514,184 worth of lottery money awarded to four Lincolnshire organisations is from a total of £1,886,817 awarded to five counties in the East Midlands by the Community Fund. The money has been awarded as part of the Community Fund’s rolling grants programme in 2004.
