Cannock charities receive lottery boost

Two Charities serving communities in Cannock Chase received news that the Community Fund has awarded them lottery grants totalling over half a million pounds. The largest grant goes to Chase Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) who received £288,181, whilst Cannock Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) received £270,083.

Both projects will expand and develop the support available for local people and community groups. The project at Chase CVS will improve the advice and information services available to voluntary and community groups in the Cannock Chase area. The grant, over three years, will fund staff posts and contribute to line management and general running costs.

Cannock CAB aims to reduce isolation, stress and debt through the provision of information, support and practical assistance. The grant, over three years, will fund staff posts as well as general running costs, production of information and tavel costs for staff and volunteers.

"We are delighted with the result of this application. It will give us a secure footing on which to support and develop the voluntary and community groups and organisations." said Mr Kent Parsons, Chief Officer at the CVS "The Community Fund regional office have been very encouraging and helpful, in particular we greatly appreciated the support of Outreach Officer Stephna Davis-Watts".
