Who can apply

To qualify for a grant an organisation must:

  • be independently established for charitable, benevolent or philanthropic purposes
  • have a constitution or a set of rules, defining its aims, objectives and operational procedures
  • have a bank or building society account which requires at least two signatures on each cheque
  • be able to provide a copy of its most recent approved and signed accounts
  • Groups do not have to be registered or recognised charities to be eligible for a grant.

If you already have a grant from the Board you can apply for another grant:

  • for a different project under a different grants programme
  • to develop a project currently funded by the Board, if your grant has less than one year to run.

Our leaflet, Guide to Eligibility, explains the eligibility criteria in more detail. Ring your local Charities Board office for a copy of the leaflet.
