Welcome to the National Lottery Charities Board North East Regional Office

Our office is based in Newcastle upon Tyne and covers Durham, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear and the former county of Cleveland. The North East has the smallest population of all of the England regions (2.6 million) and a strong regional identity. Geographically diverse, it has both densely populated urban areas and sparsely populated rural sections. The region has the highest level of unemployment in England and faces the challenge of recovering from the long term decline of traditional industries such as coal mining, steel production and ship building.

Awards have ranged from £500 to small local groups to £682,000 for long term, large scale projects. Work we have supported includes building and refurbishment of village halls and community centres, community transport schemes, playgroups, training and education and disabled access improvements.

Our staff at the North East Regional Office will be happy to help you with any questions that you may have about eligibility, our current grants programmes, funding criteria and information about awards made. We also run seminars and give talks. Your local helper organisations may also be able to give individual advice, or run training events. We can put you in touch if you do not know who they are.
