Welcome to the National Lottery Charities Board Scotland Office
The National Lottery Charities Board is the biggest independent funder of the
voluntary sector in Scotland. Since the Board began making grants in October
1995, more than £100,000,000 of lottery money has been distributed to community
and voluntary organisations throughout the country. Grants are announced every
few months and our most recent grants were announced in September 1999.
The National Lottery Charities Board...meeting needs in Scotland!
Our aim is to help those at greatest disadvantage and to improve the quality of life in the community. Our priorities and approach to grant-making are decided in consultation - with community groups, volunteers and public agencies - to make sure that our funds go where they are needed and really make a difference! Our biggest ever consultation exercise held at the end of 1998 produced a clear consensus: people want our grants to address the pressing social and economic issues facing Scotland at the start of the Millennium.
The principles behind our grant-making are designed to guide us in developing policies and distributing funds. Decisions on grants are made in Scotland by the Scotland Committee.
The Board in Scotland has made a commitment to being transparent in its processes.
