Yorkshire and The Humber Regional Office

Regional Office

...now has 2 main grants teams as well as an Awards For All team. The teams have responsibility for assessing new applications to the region and for managing and monitoring grants.

The Board's commitment to decentralisation is illustrated by the establishment of 9 regional offices in England, plus their respective Regional Advisory Panels, who between them enable effective communication with the voluntary sector and representation of local needs.

For administrative purposes the region is divided into four areas: North, South and West Yorkshire, and The Humber which includes East Riding, North and North East Lincolnshire. The region contains 22 local authorities and serves a population of 5 million, and since October 1995 we have made more than 1000 grants, totalling �92.6 million (July 1999 figures), to a diverse range of large and small organisations.

Regional Awards Committee

...is made up of local people who have a wide knowledge of the needs of the region and its diverse communities. Acting in a personal and unpaid capacity, they advise the England Committee on grants to be awarded in the region, as well as contributing towards national policy. All members are appointed annually by the England Committee. If you are interested please write to this office enclosing your CV.

REGIONAL STRATEGIC PRIORITIES

In the Yorkshire & The Humber region as with the rest of the Board we operate to a strategic plan. Our regional priorities for main grants currently include:

• Increasing the number and success rate of applications from Black & Minority Ethnic groups
• Strengthening Voluntary sector infrastructure
• Projects addressing Urban & rural poverty
• Projects led by small grassroots organisations
