Bristol press release

Good lottery news to start the New Year

There's good news for three community groups from Bristol area in the latest round of National Lottery Charities Board grants, totalling over �2,073,467 across the South West region, announced today.

The Long Ashton Community Association is to get �148,938 to build an extension to the existing community hall, the Bangladesh Association will be able to expand the existing advice and information service for the Bangladeshi community in Bristol with the help of a grant of �111,397 and the Cintre Community will receive �6,703 to create organic gardens, a woodland walkway and a nature trail in the grounds of Harbour House in West Bristol.

"These grants also mark the NLCB having broken the �100 million pound barrier in total grants made in the region since 1995. That's a very significant sum," said Chairman of the Regional Awards Committee, Board Brian Tanner, "and we can show that our grants have made a real impact over the last five years and how Lottery money is making a difference to many lives in our part of the country."

Cornwall press release

Good lottery news to start the New Year

There's good news for five community groups in the Cornwall area in the latest round of National Lottery Charities Board grants, totalling over �2,073,467 across the South West region, announced today.

The Gaia Trust at Wadebridge in North Cornwall is off to a cracking start this New Year with a grant for �56,880. The grant will pay for a Community Development Officer to set up and develop a network of community organisation, provide support and ensure that the premises and equipment are available to all community groups.

The Hayle Youth Project, which provides facilities and activities for people between the ages of 14 to 24, are to receive a grant of �3,699. The grant will be used to decorate and furnish the Hayle Youth Project's meeting place and office.

Good lottery news to start the New Year

There's good news to start the New Year for three community groups in Devon in the latest round of National Lottery Charities Board grants, totalling over �2,073,467 across the South West region, announced today.

The Duchy Pre-School and Playgroup in Bradninch near Cullompton has got a grant of �20,239 to help with refurbishing their existing premises, whilst Kingsbridge Age Concern has got �174,000 to provide a purpose built centre for older people.

A grant of �203,023 has been awarded to Tiverton and District Volunteer Centre in mid Devon. The grant will be used to help refurbish and re-equip the Centre in Tiverton as well as appoint and pay for a full time Volunteer co-ordinator and to recruit and train volunteers.

Dorset press release

Good lottery news to start the New Year

There's good news for five community groups in the Dorset area in the latest round of National Lottery Charities Board grants, totalling over �2,073,467 across the South West region, announced today.

The DIAL project at Weston Super Mare, which provides a welfare rights advice and information service to disabled people and their carers is to get �5,822. The grant will be used to meet the cost of volunteer expenses, for training and general running costs.

A grant has been awarded to Dorset Advocacy of �99,771 to continue the development of self advocacy groups throughout Dorset and to further develop a resource centre that groups and individuals can access for information and facilities.

The Dorset Youth Motor Project provides facilities and training for young people, including offenders and teenagers at risk who build and maintain stock cars and go karts. The group has been awarded �20,350, which will be used to buy a vehicle and will also help towards the general running costs.

The Lyme Regis Development Trust, which focuses on education, training, relief of poverty, young people, local environment and conservation is to receive �98,992. The grant is a contribution towards the salary of a Development Manager, for the purchase of office equipment and the costs of recruiting, the rent, running expenses, information materials, training and travel for staff and volunteers.

The Purbeck Citizens Advice Bureau, serving Wareham and the surrounding area have been awarded �135,377. The grant will be used to appoint and pay for three part time staff to advise people on welfare rights, money, employment and housing. The new posts will be advertised nationally.

A grant of �158,908 from the National Lottery Charities Board has got the Horizons Project in Plymouth off to a cracking start to the New Year.

Horizons, which provides services for disadvantaged young people and people on low incomes in Plymouth, is just one of the 22 community groups to benefit from NLCB grants, totalling over �2,073,467 across the South West region, announced today.

"To hear that their grant application has been successful is, I'm sure, the best New Year present that any community group could get" said Regional Awards Committee Chair Brian Tanner. "In this case the grant will be used to develop the work funded by a previous NLCB grant, to buy a boat and pay revenue costs."

A grant of �92, 256 from the National Lottery Charities Board has got the Stogumber Village Hall refurbishment project at Stogumber near Taunton in Somerset off to a cracking start to the New Year.

Stogumber Village Hall is just one of the 22 community groups to benefit from NLCB grants, totalling over �2,073,467 across the South West region, announced today.

"To hear that their grant application has been successful is, I'm sure, the best New Year present that any community group could get" said Regional Awards Committee Chair Brian Tanner. "Stogumber Village Hall is in rural area where the local population is largely elderly and the NLCB grant will be used for refurbishment, to provide a hearing loop; and to provide access for people with mobility difficulties."

A grant of �180,353 from the National Lottery Charities Board has got Age Concern in Torbay off to a cracking start to the New Year.

Age Concern in Torbay is just one of the 22 community groups to benefit from NLCB grants, totalling over �2,073,467 across the South West region, announced today.

"In this case the NLCB grant will be used to pay for the salaries of 2 new full time posts - an Information, Advice and Advocacy Officer and an Administrative Assistant - so as to expand and improve access to Age Concern's services in Torquay."

There's good news for three community groups in Wiltshire in the latest round of National Lottery Charities Board grants, totalling over �2,073,467 across the South West region, announced today.

The Colerne Village Hall Association in North Wiltshire is to get �74,447 to pay for building renovations, Wilsford Village Hall near Pewsey, Devizes is to receive �60,950 for refurbishment work with the Well Woman Centre in Swindon getting a grant of �112,405 to develop its outreach work.
