16/04/04 Community groups spring into action after latest Lottery awards

Awards worth £2,272,677 are being made to 26 groups in the Eastern Region today. A number of mental health charity projects, a war veterans project, projects for the disabled, children’s projects, older people’s projects and a village hall are among those set to benefit from awards being announced today by Community Fund. Community Fund Regional Awards Committee Chair Richard Martineau said: “We are delighted to fund these projects to help isolated communities in our region. The Community Fund will continue to work in partnership with voluntary groups to improve the quality of life in disadvantaged communities.”

06/02/04 Happy New Year for Eastern Groups!
Twenty-five local voluntary and community groups are looking forward to a happy year – after the Community Fund awarded them over £2 million in grants.

The awards form part of a £2,087,151 range of awards in the Eastern Region to local groups with projects that include disabled people and their carers, elderly people and their carers, groups living in isolated rural areas.

Regional Awards Committee Chair Richard Martineau said: “Once these projects are underway it will be a much happier New Year for many of the most disadvantaged local people – thanks to the Community Fund and the public who buy the tickets. It has allowed many groups across the region to make a real difference in their communities.”

Christmas has arrived early as the Community Fund today announced £1,380,866 of grants in the Eastern region. The 13 grants awarded were under the Community Fund’s grants programmes, which aim to help those at greatest disadvantage and improve the quality of life in the community.
