Triumph for Tameside - £300,000 Lottery grant to boost voluntary groups
| ||||
Tameside Third Sector Coalition is celebrating after receiving a £300,000 Lottery grant to help voluntary groups in Tameside.
The grant from the Community Fund will help the Coalition provide the voluntary sector with support in setting up a group, getting constituted, registering as a charity, securing funding and dealing with management issues.
‘This grant secures the future for our Support and Development Team,’ said Moira Cunningham, Director of the Coalition. ‘It will ensure that we are able to provide support for local groups from setting up to winding down. It is a great boost for the voluntary sector in Tameside and I know that voluntary groups in the area will make good use of our services.’ The Support and Development Team will provide one to one advice sessions and access to funding sessions, training and other information services. It will build capacity and improve the ability of the voluntary sector organisations to deliver their services. The good news for Tameside is that it has recently become one of the Community Fund’s target areas for funding and more good quality projects that are well planned and meet a clear need in the area are being encouraged. The Community Fund now runs a Project Review Service, where groups complete a short Outline Proposal Form about their project. This form is then reviewed and feedback is provided on likely chances of success. "This award is great news for Community Fund as well as the Coalition,’ said Mike Callon, Regional Development Manager for the Community Fund. ‘Tameside is a target area for Community Fund and New Opportunities Fund because in the past it has not received its 'fair share' of lottery grants. This project will do a lot to support other voluntary and community groups in the area to develop their activities and access more funding themselves." Groups can contact the Coalition to access services on 0161 3394985. Notes to Editors
