Ben Whitaker CBE
Member of the Strategic Grants Committee and Chair of the South East Region Committee
Ben Whitaker is a barrister, a journalist, broadcaster and author of several books on human rights and international development.
His previous appointments include: Executive Director of the Gulbenkian Foundation (UK) 1989-99; Chairman of the Foundations Forum 1996-98; a Trustee of the Allen Lane Foundation 1979-99; Executive Director of the Minority Rights Group 1971-88; the United Kingdom's expert member on the United Nations Human Rights Sub-Commission 1975-88. Ben Whitaker was the Member of Parliament for Hampstead from 1966-1970 and the UK Junior Minister for Overseas Development 1969-70.
