Kay Hampton
Chair of the Scotland Committee
Kay is currently a lecturer in sociology at Glasgow Caledonian University. As former Research Director of the Scottish Ethnic Minorities Research Unit she has researched and published widely on racism, ethnicity and discrimination. She has also been employed by the University of Durban-Westville, South Africa.
She is closely associated with the voluntary sector in Scotland. Her current and recent appointments include: Non Executive Director, Positive Action in Housing (1999 to 2001); Committee member, SCVO Race Equality Advisory Group (1996 to 2001); Editorial Board member, Scottish Youth Issues Journal (1999 to present); Board member, Meridian, Black and Ethnic Minority Women’s Information and Resource Centre (2000 to 2001); Chair, Saheliya, Women’s Mental Health Project (1999 to August 2000).
Other appointments held: Deputy Chair and Lead Commissioner for Scotland for the Commission for Racial Equality. |
