Richard Gutch
Director for England and the UK
Richard Gutch took up the post of Director for England at the end of April 2001. In January 2002 he also took on responsibility for International, Research and UK grants.
He was previously Chief Executive of Arthritis Care (1992 - 2001). Under his leadership, Arthritis Care developed its self-management programmes, as well as expanding its network of appointed volunteers and branches. He also introduced a regional management structure and worked with the trustees on new governance arrangements for the charity as well as on a new mission and strategic plan.
Before joining Arthritis Care he was Assistant Director (Resource Development) of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations, where he was responsible for NCVO's work on local government and on contracting. He was co-author on the On-Trust report on the training of trustees, as well as author of Contracting Lessons from the US and other publications. He has been a former chair of the Long Term Medical Conditions Alliance, as well as chair and vice-chair of the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations. He has been involved in ACEVO publications on user involvement, core costs and devolution and regionalistion. |
