Will Miller
Director of Resources
Dr Will Miller is Director of Resources. He was previously Director of Information Systems (IS) for the Fund since 26 November 2001. Before this, Dr Miller was IT Director for the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA).
In the early eighties in Australia he developed an interest in computing in Defence Intelligence. Later in Defence Finance he programmed the first systems in that organisation which automated the transfer of mainframe accounting information into the annual budget documentation produced on desktop PCs.
After moving to the UK, he provided database and systems support to the Lottery grant making division in the Arts Council of England (1995-98) where he automated the publishing of statistical data onto its website. In 1998 he was appointed Head of Administration and Finance in the Lottery start-up organisation, the National Endowment for Science Technology and the Arts (NESTA) before taking the position of IT Director in that organisation. His concept of outsourcing assessments using an Extranet received runner-up in a Top 100 Visionary companies competition in Sheer Inspiration in 2000. He has a PhD on James Joyce's Finnegans Wake and was a East Sussex county foil fencing champion.
