Employment policy
We will make sure that our staff have:
- A safe and healthy workplace - Fair rewards - A chance to develop their career - Training - Equal opportunities. In return we ask for: - High-quality work - Politeness - Efficiency and fairness when you deal with all customers and each other - Respect for equal opportunities. Equal opportunities We are positively committed to equality and will not treat people unfairly. This applies to all job applicants and employees in all areas of our activities. We have an Equalities Steering Group, which has lead responsibility for ensuring that equality issues are addressed as an integral part of everything we do. We will accept applications in other formats from disabled applicants, for example a CV on audiotape, in large print, or on computer disk. Training and development We are committed to developing all our staff. We realise how important training is for efficient and effective work. We support career development and so we give our staff an average of five days of training every year. We also have a scheme where we pay £100 every year towards personal development. Starting salaries and grades We have four grades for our staff. - Director - Link Grade - Manager - Support. We advertise jobs on a particular grade and pay range. We will usually offer the job at the lowest pay on the range, unless the interview panel thinks that the candidate has exceptional strengths or levels of experience. in this case, we may offer outside candidates 5 per cent above the salary that they got in their previous position, as long as it is not more than the top of our salary range for the job. Pay progression Any salary increase will depend on your performance. If you take the job, your salary may increase every year as a result of our performance review scheme. All staff are entitled to a review if they have been in the job for six months by 1 April. This scheme is based on setting aims and important tasks, which are then reviewed every year during a performance review. The scheme involves three standards of performance: - Below standard - Fully effective - Outstanding. Most people usually receive a fully effective award. The size of the general pay increase reflects public-sector pay policy. Pensions The Community Fund offers a choice of final salary and stakeholder pension giving staff the flexibility to choose the pension that suits you best. The final salary pension is part of the Principal Civil Service Pension Scheme which is index linked. Your Pension will be based on years of service and final pensionable earnings. Members of this pension scheme make a 3.5% contribution of their earnings to the pension scheme. Fixed term contract staff or staff who opt out of the Principal Civil Service Pension Scheme will be eligible to become members of the Partnership Pension Account. This is a stakeholder pension arrangement with an employer contribution. The Community Fund will make contributions of up to 15.5% of earnings dependant on your age and contributions. The Community Fund's occupational retirement age is 65.
